Word

Hi I was wondering if there was anyway that I could make a word document read only without having to put in a password, I have had problems in the past where I have put on a password but then other users have tried guessing at the password and they have blocked the document, and so I was wondering if it can be done without the password.

RE: Word

Hello Nicola

Thank you for your question.

For any file, if you go into Windows Explorer (My Computer) and find the file, then right-click on it and go to Properties.

On the General tab, near the bottom you will see an area headed Attributes. Tick the Read Only option, then click OK.

When you double-click the file to open it, it should have the file name at the top of the screen with Read Only next to it in brackets.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Word tip:

Print Word documents without opening them first

Here's a fast way of printing a Word document from Windows Explorer/My Computer.

Go to the location where the document is saved on your computer, then right-click on the icon next to the document and select Print from the menu.

The document will automatically open, print and close itself.
