How do you format part of a document without affecting the rest of the document.

Hi Graham, Thank you for your post, as in all operations in Word, we need to select (highlight) the area which we want Word to operate upon. In the case of formatting a particular area of a document, if you highlight that area and then perform your formatting commands, only that area will be affected. Move Toolbar buttons

In both Word and Excel you can Move Toolbar buttons to a different position or even delete them from the toolbar by pressing the ALT key and then dragging them to a new position, Note: dragging them off the toolbars completely will delete them.
To replace/repair them; View, Toolbars, Customise, Select Toolbars tab, select Toolbar to repair and click Reset button, Click OK.
