Resources

I have a resourse list with about 25 resources.

Upon hiding the resource column, when it came back one of my resources was not immediately showing in the resource column of the table side.

When you click on the cell, the name is shown, however, upon a quick glance many tasks appear unallocated.

This resource is given to all materials and measurements needed for manufacture of items and is called GHOST.

When looking in the unallocated items list, it can often be frustrating when there is 1 'completion' which is unallocated and i have to go through the whole list to find it!

Do you know why this is occuring?

RE: Resources

Hi hannah

Thank you for your question

Could you confirm that thisd problem happens when you are in gannt chart view? If so does it occur in the table part of any other view?

Thanks

Stephen

RE: Resources

Yes this is when I am in the Gantt Chart View.

It occured when we temporarily hid the colum called 'resource name' to see some other columns on screen, when we selected to re-insert this column my Ghost resource (used for fabric and materials) was not showing. This was the only resource I had a problem with.

I have overcome this at the moment, by breaking down my project file (i did have all projects in one single file) into seperate projects, but if i want to hide the column again this may happen again.

Is it maybe a bug in the system?

I am having a few issues with my resource pool, now i have split my projects and am sharing my resource pool.

When i initially go in, it says the file cannot be consolidated and certian projects cannot be found.

All my projects and resource pool are in the same folder on my computer yet it is showing some as being on the desktop of my home computer (where they were created)

I then have to go in and open them manually. Some (but not all) of these are duplications, and need not even be causing issues as they are fine on a later line!

I can only think to delete the offending files and create these projects again...

Any ideas of how to get over this?

I have also made a few changes to the pool in the write only (lock others out) option (middle of three options) it tells me i cannot save my changes.

Me again! Sorry...

Having issues now with the working time and calander reconciliation..

I have set both to the same working times, and set holidays in the file path...

>tools>change working time

however, when i go into my individual resources the xmas hols are set to be my normal, nondefault working times, set by myself, like on an ordinary week!

Surely i should be able to see the week or whatever i have blocked out for xmas in the resources?

RE: Resources

Hi Hannah

There are a number of issues here but I think they are all probably linked. It is difficult however, to know exactly what is happening without having access to the files in question.

If possible, I suggest that you email me copies of the offending files and I will figure out the problem and a solution. It is possible that there is some issue with your installation of project, but we would need the files to be sure.

my email is stephenATmicrosofttraininingDOTnet

RE: Resources

Hi Hannah

Thanks for the reply

I look forward to seeing you on the advanced course. If we can find some time we can try and resolve the issues on the day; if not we will tackle the problem later and post the results on the forum.

Stephen
