Import Data

Can you import information e.g. from my timesheet system with actual time against tasks that are linked to Project tasks. This would enable a more accurate calc of "costs incurred + planned cost = total project cost". My system is a bespoke system based in SQl Server we have full access to the code.

RE: Import Data

Hi Sarah,

Thankyou for your question.

It may be possible to do this.

If you click on File-Open in project you will see in the bottom right hand corner of the dialog box a button marked ODBC. Click on this and a wizard will open.

From this point on however, you will need technical support from those who maintain your system as you will need to locate the files and map the required fields.

Regards

Stephen

MS Project tip:

Compare Work and Duration

Duration is the timescale within which a task is done; Work is the specific time element used. For example, 3 days work in a duration of 2 weeks. To compare, add the Work field into the Entry table by right clicking a column heading to Add Field.
