I have a very small project which i have writen it has about 8 items on it and would like to know if it is possible to print the 8 or so items and the duration without having the large blank space underneith?

Thank you for your question.
As project GANTT charts maintain the same aspect ratio this is hard to do in Project.
Your best bet would be to take a screen copy using the copy picture function. Paste the picture into Word and then crop the picture using word's picture tools.
