Sorting dates

I posted a question regarding filtering dates but it did not seem to work.

this is a sample of the list that we have and all we want to show is Januarys.

date
01/17/82
12/15/83
08/16/84
01/01/85
01/02/87
01/15/87
01/19/87
08/16/88
01/23/93
01/09/94
03/03/94
11/17/03
09/24/06
10/12/06

Either by filtering or sorting??

RE: sorting dates

did you know the formats for these dates are different some are american date format and some are not dates but really text because they are left align which indicate these are text these may be the problem
did you import them from another program

Excel tip:

Transpose text

You can transpose any range of cells, turning the columns into rows and the rows into columns. Just follow these steps:

Select the range.

Click the Copy button on the Standard toolbar to copy it to the Clipboard.

Select a cell outside of the range you copied.

Select Paste Special from the Edit menu.

In the Paste Special dialog box, click Transpose, then OK.
