RE: How do I export data form excel to access

Hi Eloise

An easy way to do this is to start in Access.
Before you do so, make sure the data in Excel has the column headings in Row 1.

In Access, Click FILE > Get external Data
IMPORT

Then select the Excel file you want to import.

A wizard will start with 4 steps to assist you
1. Choose worksheet to import
2. Tick the box for Column headings in first row
3. Import to NEW Table
4. Alter any field names (you can skip this step)
5. Choose the primary key (let access add a key)
6. Give the new table a name

DONE

Regards

Richard

Access tip:

Dsum

You can create percentage values based on individual products / items by using a Dsum function (used with a grouped query)

[Each value column] / Dsum[field:total for the column needed to be calculated],[tablename]
