Drop-down menus in forms

How can I create drop down menus in a form, so that data inputters can choose between various options?

RE: Drop-down menus in forms

Hi Sarah,

Now that you have done the Intermediate course, you know how to create a Lookup list in a table using the Wizard.

Forms have similar wizards, in that if you add a Combo Box control to the form, and you have the Wizard's Wand highlighed on the toolbox, you should have a Wizard start once you add the control. This will step you through creating the lookup for your control.

Let me know how it goes, or if you require any further assistance.

Regards

Richard

Access tip:

Run with the total

Often when creating reports with lists of transactions it can be useful to have a column which totals the transactions as the report progresses.

Using the Sum function gives the total for the whole group, not a running total.

Access provides an easy method of achieving a running total.

Click on the text box containing the data you wish to contain the running total.
Select the Data tab
Click in the Running sum option
Click the down arrow to view three options
