Cell Duplictes
How would I go about highlighting cells that have a duplicate value and this value would be words not numbers.
And would this work with showing duplicates on an excel worksheet with multple sheets.
RE: Cell Duplictes
Hello Anum,
Thank you for your question.
You can highlight cells with duplicate values (or words) in Excel using Conditional Formatting. Here's how you can do it:
1. Select the range of cells where you want to find duplicates.
2. Go to the Home tab on the Ribbon.
3. Click on Conditional Formatting in the Styles group.
4. Choose Highlight Cells Rules and then select Duplicate Values.
5. In the Duplicate Values dialog box, make sure "Duplicate" is selected in the first drop-down, and choose the formatting style you prefer (e.g., Light Red Fill with Dark Red Text).
6. Click OK.
This will highlight all duplicate values in the selected range.
For multiple sheets, you would need to apply the Conditional Formatting to each sheet individually. Unfortunately, Excel does not support applying Conditional Formatting across multiple sheets directly. However, you can copy the formatting from one sheet to another:
1. Apply the Conditional Formatting to the first sheet.
2. Select the range with the formatting.
3. Use the Format Painter (found on the Home tab) to copy the formatting.
4. Go to the next sheet and select the range where you want to apply the formatting.
5. Click the Format Painter to apply the formatting.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
