Immersive Reading

How does one access the full scope of immersive reading as described during the course. My current version is included within Microsoft 365 Word Version 2411 (Build 18227.20106). Is this out of date?

Thanks for the screenshot. When I select immersive reader it does not have the options that you identified. In particular the ability to change the brightness of a word document to make it easier on the eyes.

RE: Immersive Reading

You have an up to date version of Word, so you should still be able to find the Immersive reader in the 'View' tab on your ribbon.

I have attached a screenshot to this reply. That should signpost where you can find it. Please let me know if you are still having dificulties.

RE: Immersive Reading

If the command is not there, then it is possible you have accidentally deleted it somehow. In order to get it back, you can follow the following steps:

1. Right click on any blank space on the ribbon, you should see a box that says 'Customise the Ribbon'. (Immersive 1)

2. On the screen that appears, you should see a dropdown button that says 'Popular Commands'. Please change that to say 'All Commands'. (Immersive 2)

3. This list has everything you could put in the ribbon. It is all alphabetical, so scroll down until you see 'Immersive Reader'. you can click on that then click the 'Add' button to add it back to your ribbon. Note that it will add the button to wherever you specify in the ribbon it should go, so be careful not to lose track of it. (Immersive 3)

That should hopefully solve all you issues. Do let us know if you need any further help.

RE: Immersive Reading

Turns out that the Word app has recently been updated to 18227.20138 which now includes the full scope needed for immersive reading. Thanks, George

Word tip:

Remove 'Getting Started' Pane

When you start Microsoft Word 2003 a "Getting Started" pane appears to the right of the new document window.

It contains several options such as "Connect to Microsoft Office Online", "Get the latest news about using Word" and a list of your most recently accessed documents. Though useful to some, others may find it annoying.

The following steps allow you to remove the "Getting Started" pane.

1. Choose Tools then Options

2. In the Options dialog box select the View tab

3. Uncheck Startup Task Pane

4. Click OK to close the dialog box.
