MS project timeline

Is whether there is a way to pull more information from a Gantt view into a timeline view? At present I have a title and date but there’s a host of other information I would like to include without having to type everything in notes on the timeline itself.

RE: MS project timeline

Hi Anjani

Yes you can add many things to the Timeline.
Start by clicking on the Timeline
Select the tab Format (Timescale Tools)
Then click Existing Tasks
You can now click on the tasks, milestones or summary tasks you want to show on the Timeline.

Also if you run out of space click on Display as Callout and also change the number of lines to display.

Hope that helps

MS Project tip:

Autofit column width – Project (all versions)

At the top of the columns where each column name is located (Task Name, Duration, etc.), hover over the vertical column line which you want to move.

A short bold vertical line will appear, with horizontal arrows pointing left and right.

Left click and hold this icon and it will permit you to grab the column line, allowing you to move it left or right to your desired location.
