Typing fractions into Word

Hi everyone

I need to type the following fractions (so that they LOOK like proper fractions!) into Word ...

5/6
11/16
9/10

There may be others in the future.

Under "Insert Symbol" there are several fractions such as 2/3 but not the ones I need.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you.

Marion.

RE: Typing fractions into Word

Hi Marion

Thanks for getting in touch. Word gives you the ability to enter custom fractions and many other more complex mathematical expressions.

Go to the Insert menu and choose Equation, then Insert New Equation. You will now have a new menu which has Fraction on it. You can then pick the style of fraction which drops in small boxes you can type in numerators and denominators. Using the drop-down next to the fraction you can also save a fraction to reuse it quickly.

Kind regards

RE: Typing fractions into Word

Hi Gary

Thank you for that - it does work, but it puts the fraction into the document in a slightly different format to the ones that you can pick up from the standard list ... instead of using a diagonal line to separate top and bottom it uses a horizontal one. Do you know if it's possible to change this please so that it matches the standard ones (half, two thirds etc) or do I have to change the others to match this new one?!

Hope that makes sense!!

Thank you :-)

Marion

RE: Typing fractions into Word

Hi Marion

Thanks for your reply. If you look next to the first fraction option, it gives you different layouts - the second one shows them with the classic forward slash "/" separator.

RE: Typing fractions into Word

Hi again, thank you :-) I wasn't looking for a new menu!! However ... it does put them in the right format but they are loads bigger than the half or two thirds that word puts in automatically, so I think I am just going to have to redo those to get everything looking the same.
Marion.
