Setting Calendar

We're using a resource pool for all of our projects. All of the resouces in the pool have our "integer master calendar" assigned. Recently, when I've created new projects using the resource pool and under Project - project information select the "integer master calendar" I get an error message whenever I try to save the document. the message says that there's a problem with the calendar name and that it probably does not exist.

any ideas? Is it necessary anyway to change the calendar under project information if the resources I'm using are all on the integer master calendar anyway?

RE: Setting Calendar

Hello Juliane,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Project course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding setting your calendar.

I have never experienced that problem before. What I suggest is that you check the Global.MPT section of the Organizer and make sure that your "integer master calendar" is in there.

If you haven't done this before, open any project file that contains your integer calendar and then click Tools menu > Organizer > Calendars tab. Locate and select your calendar from the opened file side and copy it over to the Global.MPT side.

Now, when creating new files you should be able to select the calendar of your choice by going to Project > Project Information > Calendar drop-down. When you save the file it will automatically accept the calendar you have chosen.

Don't forget to update the Global.MPT calendar each time you make any changes, i.e. such as new bank holidays etc.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

We still have the same problem. Until now the previously mentioned error message "There's a problem with the calendar name. The calendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list, and then press Enter" came up whenever I saved a project but it did not have any effects on anything.

Now I just tried to set a base line and the same error message came up and prevents me from setting the base line.

the Calendar is in the GlobalMPT section as it should be and I have selected it in the drop down as well. Do you have any other idea why this would come up as an error message?

Thanks
Best

Juliane

RE: Setting Calendar

Hello Juliane,

The only thing I can suggest is send a copy of the file to me at:

rl@stl-training.co.uk

I will take a look at the errors you are getting. Hopefully I will be able to find out what the problem is and then find a solution.

I look forward to your reply.

Have a great day.
