PROJECT 2010 WORKING / CALANDER TIMES

Hi,
i have set up my calander and resource calander to 7 day weeks working from 08:00 to 20:00 so they both match and yet for my tasks such as starting on the 23.04.12 to the 25.04.12 it states that the duration is 2.5 days? how is this possible?
i am trying to ammend a project plan given to me and am unable to get and real answers from the person who put iot together, combined with having several plans from different companies i dont think this is helping me but i need to see them all together
Regards

RE: PROJECT 2010 WORKING / CALANDER TIMES

Hi James,

Thank you for your question.

It seems the problem may exist on the Schedule options within Project. Try the following:

1. Go to the File tab, Options and click and then click on Schedule on the left panel.

2. Change the 'Default Start Time' to 08:00

3. Change the 'Default End Time' to 20:00

4. Change the 'Hours per day' to 11

5. Change the 'Number of days' to 7

6. Change the 'Days per month' to 28

I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.

Regards,

Simon

RE: PROJECT 2010 WORKING / CALANDER TIMES

Hi,

there is no option for "number of days" to be changed, i have "hours per week" instead and this can be set from 1-100??
what should i try to input, altering the other information hasnt changed the "partial days"

Regards

RE: PROJECT 2010 WORKING / CALANDER TIMES

Hi James,

My apologies the 'Number of days' should be 'Hours per week'. In the 'Hours per week' field enter 77 hours which is 7 days at 11 hours each day.

After speaking to a colleague, reset the those settings back to what they were originally and this should reset the durations.

Now take a copy of the durations(for reference) and then change the values as per my email. You can then replace the incorrect durations with the original(copied) referenced data.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Simon

MS Project tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Project 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Project 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
