MS Visio

It's a nightmare printing any documents from Visio in a useful format - are there any easy ways of managing print preview/margin setting?

Same question applies to critical path in MS Project - find it difficult to produce any useful printed material for colleagues who don't have this software.

Thanks for your help!

Helen

Thanks!

RE: MS Visio

Hi Helen thanks for your query. I'm afraid you're not the only one to find printing from Visio a nightmare. It's very much a process of tweaking the various settings, there's a useful walkthrough here:

As for the critical path in Project, again I sympathise! For five year projects some companies use roller printers and wallpaper the room with the critical path, for smaller projects use the print settings in tandem with filters to drill into a smaller part of the project, say just this weeks critical tasks. Once a project gets beyond a certain scope, getting it onto one sheet of A4 just becomes impossible.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Excel tip:

The dual nature of toolbar buttons

Many toolbar buttons are dual purpose, though the two purposes are often linked in some way. For example, Align Left aligns a cell's contents to the left of the cell. However, hold down Shift and press the Align Left button: Excel aligns the cell contents to the right.
You may respond: So what? Well, you can reduce the number of buttons on your toolbar to make your screen less cluttered and allow more room for, perhaps, some of your own commands. After all, what's the point of an Align Right button when Shift+Align Left does the same thing?
