Dates

Hello,

I would like to be able to add a field that shows the name of the month that a date in the previous column relates to. i.e. in column C it says '12/03/2011' and I would like to put a formula in row D that says 'March' - is such a thing possible?

Thank you.

RE: Dates

Hi Alix, thanks for your query. This is simpler than you might think. First of all, if C1 says '12/03/2011', then in D1 put "=C1".

Then select C1, r-click Format Cells, choose the Number tab, then Custom and type "mmmm" into the Type: field. That should do the trick!

Hope this helps,

Anthony

RE: Dates

Thank you ever so much - worked perfectly!

Excel tip:

Adding multiple rows in an Excel 2010 Worksheet

If you want to add more than one row to an Excel Worksheet, drag select the number or rows you want added to the spreadsheet.

Then right click on these selected rows, choose Insert from the menu, and the new rows will be added above the rows you first selected.
