How would I know when to use effort driven scheduling? HOw would I know what default to set on my copy of project.

Thanks for your question. The best way of working out whether to use effort driven scheduling or not is to consider whether or not most of the activities you are planning change duration if you add or remove resources from them.
By default Effort Driven Scheduling is on for all your tasks. To switch this off for new tasks go to Tools > Options > Schedule and remove the tick from New tasks are effort driven
Click on OK to apply this change to new tasks in your current project or click on Set as Default to apply this change to all new projects created with your installation of Project
