Charts / Graphs

When doing the charts the legend was upside down when put on the left or right, eg e down to A... can this be reversed so it goes in order A down to E...

RE: Charts / Graphs

Hello Steven

Thank you for your question.

The order that the data displays in is often determined by how the data has been entered into the spreadsheet.

You can't reverse the order that items appear in in the legend, you can reverse the order that items appear in on the horizontal axis.

I've attached an example so you can see how the way the data is entered into the spreadsheet changes how the chart displays.

I hope this helps.

RE: Charts / Graphs

Hi Amanda,

At first glance i also did this.. However in your example the legend would not match the data...

Because you have changed legend around but the data has stayed the same..

However i have tried to move all of it around and yes the legend is correct but then the graph looks wrong!!

Please help

Cheers

Steve

RE: Charts / Graphs

Hi Steven

I didn't move the data in the example as I was primarily trying to show what happens to the legend display depending on where the labels are positioned in your spreadsheet.

I'm unsure what you mean about the graph looking wrong once you have moved the data around, can you please explain further or alternatively you can email the graph to me if you like, to amanda@stl-training.co.uk

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

Display Functions on Worksheets

Functions in Excel can be difficult to recall their format/syntax

For example, you want to use the =PMT function.

Enter =PMT, then select keystroke, CTRL+SHIFT+A.

This usful memory jog, will display the arguments of a function on a worksheet, allowing the user to proceed with the generation of the function
