How do I create a crosstab query?

RE: Queries

Hi Mat

Thank you for your question

Open the query designer and select the tables and fields that you wish to show

Then click on the query type button on the toolbar and select CrossTab. This will add a cross tab row into the designer and you can then specify the row and column headings together with the data field. You will need to specify the function type for the datafield in the group by row of that field.

Stephen

Access tip:

Run with the total

Often when creating reports with lists of transactions it can be useful to have a column which totals the transactions as the report progresses.

Using the Sum function gives the total for the whole group, not a running total.

Access provides an easy method of achieving a running total.

Click on the text box containing the data you wish to contain the running total.
Select the Data tab
Click in the Running sum option
Click the down arrow to view three options
