Charts

When you have different data items that you represent in a chart and you have multiple versions of this chart where not all data items in the legend appear, how can you make sure that every data item (e.g. the name of a country) is represented in the chart in the same colour? E.g. US is always green, UK always yellow,... (even though the UK or US do not appear in each chart; the colours seem to be chosen randomly each time you do a chart with the same data)

RE: Charts

Hi An

Are you referring to charts created by selecting data and using Insert - Chart; or a PivotChart?

Thanks
Amanda

RE: Charts

I think I had the problem when doing pivot charts.
but I would be interested in the solution in both cases.
thanks

Excel tip:

##### displaying in Excel

When you get a series of hash symbols (####) appearing in some of your cells in a spreadsheet, this can make you think that you've make some kind of mistake.

This is a common misconception - what this actually means is that the cell is not wide enough to fully display the content of the cell.

All you need to do to see what is actually in the cell is to widen the column that the cell is in.
