task start date

Task start date

Is there an alternative method of setting a task start date relevant to the start date of the program other than counting days in the celender?

Example:
my project starts on the 1st of Jan and i want to set a task start date for 4 weeks later....do i have to do this by counting days on the calender or can i tell MP to start the new task 4 weeks into the project and it calculates the start date for this task.

makes sense?...apologies perhaps not explained very well!

cheers

RE: task start date

Hi Phil

Thanks for your question. Depending on the result you are looking for you could:

Change your project start date to the new date in January so your tasks start from the new project start date. Go to Project > Project information and set your new start date for the project

Alternatively you could double click on the name of the task and in the task information box go to Advanced. In the constraint type you could choose Start no earlier than and click in the constraint date box to choose the appropriate date in the calendar. This leaves the project start date unchanged.

Finally you might make a milestone task at the start of your project (duration zero days) then connect task to it with 20 days or 4 weeks lag.

I hope this helps - let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew
