EXCEL

Hi guys,

I need a formula which returns the value at the intersection of a vlookup and an hlookup in a different workbook.

Effectively I have values 1 and 2 in one worksheet, I have those same values in table on another worksheet. 1 is at the head of a column, 2 is the leftmost value in a row. I need a formula which gives me the value at the intersection of that value and that row, and I need it to be generalisable to any two values that head a row or column in that table.

I tried: Index(table,row(vlookup(2,table,1,0)),column(hlookup(1,table,1,0)) but it didn't work, I don't know if you can get the column reference of a a lookup in a different sheet.

Excel tip:

Go to source of a cell

The default setting in Excel is when you double click in a cell it actives the formula in the cell. If you have created a link and want to directly go to that link (say if on another sheet, click on Tools -options and take off the tick for eidt it directly in cell
