What is FTP Publishing?

RE: FTP Publishing

Hello Andrea,

Hope you enjoyed your DreamWeaver Introduction course with BEST Training.
Thank you for your question regarding FTP publishing.

File Transfer Protocol allows you to copy or send files (HTML-documents, graphic images, spreadsheets) from one computer to another via the Internet.

When you create a website, you often need to create or modify files, and so need to get the original file from the webserver, or sometimes the entire website.

By setting up a local folder, and a remote area you are able to transfer files from your machine to to and from the webserver. Practically, this looks like copying files from one folder to another, much like in Windows. The only difference is that you are transferring the files over the internet, using FTP.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,

Richard

Dreamweaver tip:

Testing a site

When developing a site, you have to cater to the widest possible audience allowing for users with different browsers and display settings.
Test pages to see how they look with:

- different display resolutions
- browser with graphics turned off
- many different browsers not just IE
- if possible different operating systems.
