Sometimes when I copy down lines which have a number at the end the number goes up by one and I don't usually want it to.

RE: Excel 2003

Hi James

Sorry for the delay in answering this question.

In Excel when you enter a Word/number combination (e.g. Week1) and copy this down by dragging, as a default, the system does a Series copy.

This automatically increases the number in the statement by 1.

To be able to copy only the value with no numeric increase:

After the copy a Auto Fill Options box appears next to the last cell of the copy range.

Click the box

You should find Fill Series selected

Select Copy Cells.

The data should lose the number increments and revert to the value in the original cell

Hope this helps

Carlos

Excel tip:

Brighten up your Excel 2010 Spreadsheet by changing the colours of the gridlines

Excel 2010 allows you to change the colour of grid lines instead of keeping them in boring black.

Select the File tab on the Ribbon, click Options, click Advanced, scroll down to ''Display options for this worksheet.'' Next to ''Gridline colour,'' choose your favourite colour, then once you've done this, click OK. Easy!
