Shared Resource

Hi, I have created a master resource sheet which includes everyone in my team. I have also created 6 projects which in turn make up one main project. I have imported each of the 6 projects into a project plan and shared resources with the master resource sheet. I have saved and closed then re-opened the project plan which prompts the resource sheet to open too. The problem that I have is that I can assign resource to main tasks but not to sub tasks. I had this problem in the training too so must be doing something wrong lol.
Also when I close the files i receive a script error which says there is and error on line 236, character 4. the error is "object doesn't support this property or method". I have no idea what this means

thanks,

Darren.

RE: Shared Resource

Hi Darren, I'm sorry to hear this is causing problems. One thing to check is that each of your sub projects is connected to the resource pool before merging them into one file. The connection to the pool takes place with each project rather than the combined project file. Once you've done this you can create a merged file by opening the resource pool choosing the third option from the dialogue box.

I hope this helps - let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

Link tasks using predecessor column - project

a. First, note ID number of the task you want to link to (predecessor). Then, in the predecessor column of the task you want to link to (successor), type the predecessor task's ID number.
b. The link will be a Finish to Start (the default type).
c. Or you can add in a code for a different relationship type
i. SS = Start to Start
ii. FF = Finish to Finish
iii. SF = Start to Finish
d. You don't have to type the task ID numbers in any specific order, but you must separate multiple tasks with commas.
