Protecting Multiple Worksheets

Is there a fn to protect multiple worksheets at once rather than going into each one to protect them?

RE: Protecting Multiple Worksheets

You have the option of locking the entire workbook. If this is something that would work for you, here are the steps:

On the File menu, click Save As.

On the Tools menu, click General Options.

Do either or both of the following:

If you want users to enter a password before they can view the workbook, type a password in the Password to open box, and then click OK.

If you want users to enter a password before they can save changes to the workbook, type a password in the Password to modify box, and then click OK.

When prompted, retype your passwords to confirm them.

Click Save.

If prompted, click Yes to replace the existing workbook.

RE: Protecting Multiple Worksheets

Richard,

I have worksheets within a workbook that contain data for the entire business, I only want certain teams to be able to view the data relating to them.

I have set up "custom views" for each team but unless I protect each and every worksheet then they can just "unhide" the other teams data.

I know that I can go into each and every sheet in the workbook (about 15) and protect them individually, but I thought there may be a way of doing it universally for the workbook. Protecting the workbook still allows the user access to hidden rows and columns, just not hidden worksheets.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Paul

RE: Protecting Multiple Worksheets

Thanks Paul.

My thought would be that it would probably be better to do it one by one, as it is a sensitive operation.

Perhaps one of our other trainers has some ideas regarding this. Please post an answer if you have one.

RE: Protecting Multiple Worksheets

Richard,

I came up with the idea of writing a macro to protect the multiple sheets. This works but unfortunately the sheets can then be unprotected without using the password I have set. Do you know how I can rectify this?

Many thanks

Paul
