How do I find a host?

Finding a web site hosting provider

Hi Bahar,

I trust you enjoyed your Dreamweaver course yesterday.

Finding a web site hosting provider: wow. This could be a rather long article!

Apart from searching for web site hosting on Google, I would go on recommendations from your colleagues or friends.

Some of the top hosting companies are
http://www.rackspace.co.uk
http://www.easyspace.com
http://www.host-it.co.uk

For a more personal or small business type web site, you may also like to try http://www.simplybehosted.com/

I hope you can find some of these. If not, I'd recommend searching Google for the right host. Things to look for are how much disk space you'll have (lots if you're hosting images or videos), monthly cost, how much control you have (cPanel or similar interface is good), how many add-on and subdomains you are allowed, how many e-mail mailboxes, whether you can run PHP/ASP/CGI scripts and SQL databases if you're thinking of expanding into dynamic content, and of course support in case something goes wrong.

Regards, Rich
