Microsoft Project

assigning resources to tasks and tracking costs related to those resources

RE: Microsoft Project

Hi Craig

Each resource can have a cost so that when it is assigned to a task Project will calculate the cumulative cost both for the task and for the resource.

There are several ways to assign resources. A very robust and stable way to do this is to split the screen: in the Gantt view, choose window > split. Then click on the task you wish to assign resources to.

Down in the lower left half of the newly split screen you will find you can choose your resources for this task. Finally click on OK to assign them.

I hope this helps - do let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Kind regards,

Andrew

MS Project tip:

Autofit column width – Project (all versions)

At the top of the columns where each column name is located (Task Name, Duration, etc.), hover over the vertical column line which you want to move.

A short bold vertical line will appear, with horizontal arrows pointing left and right.

Left click and hold this icon and it will permit you to grab the column line, allowing you to move it left or right to your desired location.
