How can I use Project features to help me when reporting on risk?

Edited on Wed 30 Jan 2008, 09:34

RE: Project

Hi Emma

Thanks for your question. The Project client software (Project standard / professional) doesn't have a dedicated risk component built in however it has a number of features that help you identify risk in your project.

For example you might

- check the critical path (View > Tracking Gantt)
- apply a filter to see all estimated, high cost or constrained tasks in a date range
- Use a report (View > Reports) such as resource usage to identify peaks of work allocation

Microsoft has created a useful checklist which can be found here

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards,

Andrew

MS Project tip:

Typing Links Between Tasks

In the Entry table, use the Precessors column to type in links. Type the previous task's ID to link. To change the link, add FS (Finish-Start), FF (Finish-Finish), and so on, and + duration to add a Lag, or - duration for a Lead time. Example: for task 5, 4FS+1w ... task 4 preceeds task 5, finish to start, with a week lag between.
