How do I allocate resources to tasks.

RE: Microsoft Project

Hi Meryl,

The easiest way to allocate resources to tasks is to split the GANNT chart view, so that you have the GANNT chart in the upper window, and the task information view in the lower window. Do this by opening the GANNT chart and clicking on Window-Split.

Select the task you wish to allocate resources to in the GANNT chart, then select the resources to allocate in the lower view. Be sure to select all the required resources before clicking "OK", or clicking outside of the lower pane, as once the initial resources are allocated, any further resource changes will change either the task duration, or the total work depending on the task's setting.

Regards

Stephen

MS Project tip:

Link tasks using predecessor column - project

a. First, note ID number of the task you want to link to (predecessor). Then, in the predecessor column of the task you want to link to (successor), type the predecessor task's ID number.
b. The link will be a Finish to Start (the default type).
c. Or you can add in a code for a different relationship type
i. SS = Start to Start
ii. FF = Finish to Finish
iii. SF = Start to Finish
d. You don't have to type the task ID numbers in any specific order, but you must separate multiple tasks with commas.
