Creating a Church Directory

I'm trying to create a church directory. I want to create a template to use to make it easier for anyone to use. I want a space at the top to insert a picture in and under that all the info like name, address ect. The space where the pictures goes needs to be a space where you can move the picture to center it. Like a hole where the picture is behind the template but you can move the picture behind the hole to center the picture. Is there a way to do this. I'm not sure i have explained what i am looking for but that is the best i can do.

Thanks

RE: Creating a Church Directory

Hi Larry,

Try using the following:

1. Click on VIEW on the menu bar, and then HEADER AND FOOTER

2.
This will let you edit the space at the top of the page, where you can insert a picture.

3. Click in the box at the top of the page, and then click on INSERT > PICTURE

4. Select you picture, and click OK

Any information you enter into this box will only be availabe to edit on a double click, or by using the view > Header menu.

5. Click outside the box (might be a double-click) to close the the HEADER AND FOOTER VIEW.

6. Add the rest of the fields that you want to appear on your template.

7. Click FILE > SAVE AS

8. Change the File Type to TEMPLATE, name your file and click SAVE.

That should do it.

Regards

Richard

Word tip:

Turn Format Painter on once and use multiple times

The format painter tool provides a quick and easy way to copy formatting from one piece of text to another in Word.

The only problem is that if you click the Format Painter once to turn it on, you can only click and drag over a single piece of text; then the Format Painter turns itself off automatically.

If you want to copy formatting to more than one piece of text, double-click the Format Painter - this way you will be able to copy formatting to multiple pieces of text.

When you have finished using Format Painter, press the Esc key or click on the Format Painter button once to turn it off.
