Formatting Multi-Sku Items
Good Afternoon Jens,
I hope you are well.
I'm having issues formatting sku's imported into PowerBi for items made up as sets.
For instance, 99% of our items sold are scanned individually and have a unique numeric code (34568773, for instance). However, a percentage comes through as (34568773 x 34568774), with up to 5 SKUs added to one database line.
Is there anyway of auto formatting these so the correct costs can be used?
I've tried -
Data Transformation > Split Columns > Unpivot columns which then errors out.
I think the data itself needs to change because otherwise I can't format the column as a Number to correspond to our product costings and link it together.
RE: Formatting Multi-Sku Items
Hi Martin,
Thank you for the forum question.
Sorry about the late answer.
Please in the future do not address the questions to me. I like to answer your questions, but when it is addressed to me, the question will be forwarded to me and not to an available trainer. It means that if I am not at work or onsite, it can take much longer before you receive an answer.
Yes you must have an issue with the data. It can be errors, spaces, or unprintable characters in your data source. Check the column quality in the QUERY EDITOR (the VIEW tab). You may spot something.
I have created a data set similar to what I can understand you have in your data set. I have no problems getting a record for each SKU number by SPLIT COLUMN BY DELIMITER. Instead of UNPIVOT COLUMNS I in the ADVANCED options in the SPLIT COLUMN BY DELIMITER dialog box selected ROWS instead of COLUMNS. I do not know if you have spaces on both sides of the delimiter x. If you have you will have to use the TRIM tool to remove them before you change the data type to number.
Kind regards
