Finding data in a different sheet and linking it to a new one

I'd like to link data in one worksheet to another one. I need to use index and match formula to find it.

For example: The workbook has a list of promotions against a week and date, I'd like to have a forumula that can pull data from the promotion workbook into my new workbook so 'if External workbook match week 9, pull info into new workbook cells'

RE: Finding data in a different sheet and linking it to a new on

Hi Aimee,

Thank you for the forum question.

I am not sure based on the question if Index Match is the right solution.

If you want to look up week 9 and week 9 is the lookup value, index match can only pull one record from the source file. So if you expect to pull in all records from week 9, you cannot.

If you want to pull records from another Excel file, the best solution is to use Power Query to connect to the file.

I do not know if you know Power Query. The link below will help you.
