Macro security
We programmed some macros during the training course; when I tried them afterwards I had to change the macro security level to allow them to work. What's the best level of security to choose which will allow these macros to work, whilst protecting my computer as best I can?
RE: Macro security
Hi Louise,
Thank you for the forum question.
The default security settings in Excel is number 2. You can find the security setting in the code group on the developer tab.
"Disable VBA macros with a notification"
If you use this setting Excel will ask if you want to enable macros when you open a file which content macros.
You do not need to worry if you only want to run your own macros, but if someone, you do not know send you a macro file the macros cannot execute before you enable the macros.
Use the option "Disable VBA macros with a notification" and if someone send you a file and you get the question "would you like to enable the macros" just do not enable the macros.
Most firewalls stop Excel files sent outside the organisation.
I have never heard about anyone having security issues with macros.
Kind regards
