Linking cells and copying cell relationship to new worksheet

Hi there,
I know this was part of the training but it's something I'm struggling with. In one worksheet I need to link a list of items in one column to their values in another column, and then copy that relationship to a different worksheet where the list is in a totally different order. The end result being that the values for the items in the list are the same in worksheet 2 as in worksheet 1, even though the order is different.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: linking cells and copying cell relationship to new worksheet

Hi Dougal,

Thank you for the forum question.

You can use a Vlookup to lookup the values. The item will be the lookup value.

Excel tip:

Separate the year from a date

To separate the year from a date use the =year() function, eg a date is in cell A1 and in A2 you wish to display the year enter the function =year(A1)
