Google analytics reports and excel

Hi there,

Thank you for a very interesting training.

I would like to ask whether it is possible to create an excel file using data from google analytics that can also be updated in real time? During our course yesterday we were shown how this could be done with currency exchange rates, but I was wondering whether this could also be done using google analytics.

Thank you and best wishes

RE: Google analytics reports and excel

Hi Josefina,

Thank you for the forum question and I am happy that you found the course interesting.

Yes you can connect to Google Analytics.

You have a number of options, but the best solution is to download Microsoft PowerBi Desktop from Microsoft's website. It as a free application and you will find a tool, which very easy can connect to Google analytics. You can in PowerBi create analysis and some amazing dashboards.

There is also a number of other free add-ins you can download and install in Excel.

I use PowerBi, because this is absolutely an amazing tool for business intelligence.

RE: Google analytics reports and excel

Hi again,

Is there anything equivalent that can be used for Mac computers? Or can I also download PowerB on my mac?

RE: Google analytics reports and excel

Hi Josefina,

There is an ongoing "war" between Microsoft and Apple. Power Bi cannot run on a computer using Apple's operating system, but a Mac computer can run Windows, if the Mac computer is setup to run Windows and the a Mac can run Power Bi.

Excel tip:

Adding date and time

Here are two quick ways to add the date and time to your spreadsheet:

1) Type =NOW(), which displays both date and time in the same cell
or
2) Hold Ctrl and type the colon (:) into one cell for the date and the semi-colon(;)into another for the time.

Note that =NOW() updates to the current date/time whenever the spreadsheet recalculates.
