Formula across multiple amounts of data

Hello,

I would just like to start by saying how great I thought the Intermediate course was, hosted by Wendy.

I am already finding it helpful at work.

One thing, I am trying to use a formula to work out currency for multiple pieces of data.

I can do one with no issues, but when I am clicking the plus sign in the bottom right corner to amend the formula to all of the pieces of data, it just copies the first result again and again.

So it isn't coming up with different results for different date. I hope that makes sense, I really do need help on it

Alex

RE: Formula across multiple amounts of data

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your question. To better understand why your formula copies the same result, could you perhaps type your formula in the forum box, and also mention the types of data the formula is looking at?

Kind regards

RE: Formula across multiple amounts of data

Hi,

Ok, so for example:

I am trying to work out 1.8% of some random numbers:

I would do

= cell * 1.8% cell

Then enter

It will work, but then when trying to drag it down to the figures below it just gives me the answer for the first number

RE: Formula across multiple amounts of data

Hi Alex,

Are you perhaps putting $ symbols around all the cell references in your formula? That would explain why you get the same result in all the cells. If so, simply remove the $ symbols from the cell ref in your formula which refers to the column containing the values which you want to multiply with the 1.8%.

If you are not using $ symbols, we will look for a different solution.

Kind regards
Marius

RE: Formula across multiple amounts of data

Hi,

Yes I am afraid I am not using $ signs

RE: Formula across multiple amounts of data

Hi Alex, could you perhaps email us a sample in Excel of the data and formula you are using. This will make it easier for us to see why it's not working. Please email the Excel file to info@stl-training.co.uk

Many thanks
Marius
