Access & Excel - Import data from the Web

Good morning

would you mind guiding me on how to import data from the Web to Excel and/or Access

I already know there is a way to extract data but it doesn't work when the web data are displayed in a dynamic format

More particularly I would like to be able to export the odds that are available on the following webpage https://www.matchbook.com/events/live-betting

You will see that these odds are displayed in a such a manner that the standard import functionalities in MS xls and access do not work

Please let me know your thoughts
Best Regards
Nicolas

RE: Access & Excel - Import data from the Web

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for the forum question.

I got to the same result as you. The import/connect tools cannot get the data from the website.

I am sorry I cannot help you with this, but I guess an application can be coded to do it.

Thanks for your response

Could you please clarify what type of application needs to be created and which language is required to do so ?

Thank you in advance

RE: Access & Excel - Import data from the Web

Hi Nicolas,

I have tried using PowerQuery M to extract the data, but unfortunately without success and this is the first time PowerQuery M couldn't extract data from a website, when I have tried to do it.

It must be something to do with how the websites is coded.

unfortunately I cannot help you with this one.

I only guessed an application can be coded to do it, but Visual Basic is the language needed to create Add-ins and applications in Access/Excel. Java and HTML knowledge will be needed to understand the website. I have been looking at the website code, but I couldn't spot any reason for the connection problem.

Kind regards

Excel tip:

Activating the formula bar with the keyboard in Excel 2010

The formula bar in Excel 2010 contains a number of different formulas. However, it is time consuming to open the formula bar every time and insert the formula using the mouse. Instead, you can activate the formula bar with the keyboard. Simply press the F2 button on the keyboard then the information in the cell will expand allowing you to edit the information in the cell.
