Sharepoint and One Drive

Following the training session, I learned that One Drive is the best platform for day-to-day sharing of folders and files. I would like to set up six folders to share my files with three colleagues. I've noticed that these folders can be synced down to my local PC drive, but they only appear under my Sharepoint network, not One Drive. Is there a way to sync them through One Drive? Or will they always appear under Sharepoint? If they appear under Sharepoint, does this mean that the shared folders are subject to the same restrictions as Sharepoint? Or do they act more like One Drive folders?

RE: Sharepoint and One Drive

Hi Siobhan,

When you sync the SharePoint or OneDrive (mySharePoint/private area) down for offline use they use the same sync service. This does mean that occasionally the Symbol looks like SharePoint even when it's OneDrive and vice versa. The restrictions shouldn't apply. To confirm where the files live, log in to Portal.Office.com
Click on OneDrive and confirm they are there. That will confirm that they are not under the SharePoint restrictions.
