Lookup / Index Match
hi,
I am trying to create a formula which would look at the heading column, across at the date, then return the value in the top row.
For example;
Look up values:
Heading: 2
Date: 05/06/2013
Return Value: -1
Heading 0 -1 -2
1 06/09/2012 05/09/2012 04/09/2012
1 06/12/2012 05/12/2012 04/12/2012
1 07/03/2013 06/03/2013 05/03/2013
2 06/06/2013 05/06/2013 04/06/2013
2 06/09/2013 05/09/2013 04/09/2013
2 06/12/2013 05/12/2013 04/12/2013
i have been experimenting with range look ups and Index Match but i cannot find an appropriate solution.
Many thanks,
RE: Lookup / Index Match
Hi Jason
Thanks for your question.
Like you I can't see a an immediate solution to return the correct value from the row above the dates. If I think of a way I will post a reply. Sorry I can't help for now.

Excel tip:Adding up time greater than 24 hoursWhen you add up time if it exceeds 24 hours i.e 27 hours appears as 03:00. Go to Format / Cells / Number / Custom. The format is hh:mm but if change it to [hh]:mm it will add up to the correct amount of hours. |
