Gant Charts

What is the easiest way to create a Gant Chart?

RE: Gant Charts

Hi Kunali,

Excel can be used for Gantt Charts, but they require time to setup. They are not as sophisticated as the Gantt Charts produced by Microsoft Project. If you require detailed Gantt charts, I would suggest Project 2010 or Project 2013.

If you would like to use Excel, there are Gantt Charts listed in the Templates section of Excel. File/New and type in Gantt Charts. This is a good starting point to show you the layout and conditional formatting that you can use.

The easiest way is to adapt a template rather than to start from scratch

Excel tip:

Importing Numbers in Excel 2010

Occasionally, when importing data into Excel you find that the some of the imported values are treated as text.

To convert these numbers to actual values, click on an empty cell and press Ctrl+C.

Next, select the range that contains the values you need to change and in the Clipboard Group on the Home tab, click the Paste drop-down arrow and choose Paste Special. In the Paste Special dialog box, select Add and then click OK.
