Tables

How can I draw a box and have text NEXT to it?
When I've drawn a box (table 1 x 1) the text goes underneath and I want two boxes so that people can mark with a cross inside them - a Yes box and a No box.
Please help - it's driving me mad!

RE: Tables

Hi Gillian,

Thank you for using the forum,

There might be a few ways of solving this.

You could reduce the size of the 1x1 table by clicking on it, going to the small square at the bottom right corner, then clicking and dragging it smaller. Now the text should go next to the box as you type.

Or you could draw a 2x2 table, and resize it in a similar way. Now they can use the 2nd box to write text in.
If you don’t want the borders of the table showing: go to the Home tab on the Ribbon, in the Paragraph Subgroup there is the option to change the borders bottom right (next to the paint bucket fill). Choose the No Borders option to make the box “invisible”.

I hope that helps.

Kind regards

Word tip:

Create Blank Lines in Lists

If you in the middle of writing a numbered or bulleted list you may want to insert a blank line between the points to make the list more readable. To do this:

While in the middle of typing a list:

Press Shift+Enter and your cursor will stay in the list and move down a line without inserting another bullet or number.

Press Enter and a new bullet or number will form.

This can be useful in case your lists contain items several sentences long, as blank lines between the items may make your lists more readable.
