how to format a colume of a chart with a picture??

Edited on Wed 9 May 2007, 12:09

RE: excel spreadsheet

Hi Emma,

Thanks for the question.

When you are in the chart click on the column twice, slowly so the small black handles are grabbing the column that you want to change. When that is selected you can use the Format menu and click Format>Selected Data Point.

You should get a dialog box showing with the same colour as the graph. The name of the dialog box is "Format Data Point". Within in that box select the tab "Patterns" and click on the option that says "Fill Effects".

From there click on the tab that says Picture, from there you can select a picture which you have saved, a logo for example.

Good luck and I hope that helps

Tracy

Excel tip:

Turn Function tooltips on and off

Excel 2002 (XP) and Excel 2003 have the Function tooltips facility. When you type in a function name followed by a bracket, for example, =IF(, a yellow box appears beside the function name and lists the function's arguments. This is very useful when you can't quite remember the order of a function's arguments or what the arguments actually are!

However, Function tooltips can become annoying. To turn them off, choose Tools|Options. and select the General tab. Then, untick the Function tooltips box and choose OK.
