Ungroup

Hi, I have 'grouped' my data base, but now when i go to 'insert' new line, it doesn't let me do anything, it comes up with error message.

Even when I ungroup, it still doesnt let me change anything, it wont even let me save it now?

How can amend this?

RE: Ungroup

Hi Harry,

Thank you for your post. I've applied grouping to some rows of data in my Excel sheet. I was able to insert a new row when I right-clicked on a row header and then clicked on "Insert".

If it still doesn't work on your side, check for other settings such as freeze panes or filters running. Turn these off as they may interfere with certain other settings. Also check for protection, merged cells or hidden rows.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

RE: Ungroup

Hi,

I've tried it all, nothing works! Could the file be corrupted as it doesn't let me save it when I open it?
Can I send over the error message at all via email?

RE: Ungroup

Hi Harry,

Yes, please send the error message to forum@stl-training.co.uk.

Thank you
Marius

RE: Ungroup

Hi Harry,

This message usually means that your computer does not have enough memory available to do the required task.

You could remove certain formattings, select fewer records, delete redundant data or close any other workbooks, programs or background processes to free up more memory.

I don't know whether this is true in your case but those are typical causes for this message to appear.

Kind regards
Marius

Excel tip:

Generating Random Numbers

To generate a random number in Excel use the = RAND() function.

The value returned will always be between 0 and 1. To convert this to some other random value, you will need to multiply the result by the highest number you want to consider. For example, if you wanted a random number between 1 and 25, you could use the following code line:
= INT(25 * RAND()+ 1)

Since RAND() will always returns a value between 0 and 1 (but never 1 itself), multiplying what it returns by 25 and then using the Integer function INT on that result will return a whole number between 0 and 24.

Finally, 1 is added to this result, so that x will be equal to a number between 1 and 25, inclusive
