Calculations in Pivot Tables

Is the a way of doing an IF statement in a pivot that returns text?
i.e. =IF(sales>100, "on target", "under target") and then to condition the cells to change colour if under/over target?

RE: Calculations in Pivot Tables

Hi Echo,

Thank you for the forum question.

You can use the if function in a calculated field in a pivot table, but not as you want. Calculated fields can only return numbers not as you want a text string.

You can use conditional formatting to highlight the sales values under or over target or you can use the if function in a column next to the pivot table and here you can get the if function to return a text string.
