Working with outline levels in Project formulas

I’d a question for you about project formulas, if you may kindly address me.

How to write formula with correct syntax for this case:

I have two colums

Baseline Work at Outline Level 3 only
Work at Outline Level 4

I want to show in a third customized field a progress percentage ([Work]/[Baseline Work]*100) showing results at each Outline Level 3, calculated on items at Outline Level 4 belonging to that Outline Level 3.

May you kindly give me any input?

Thanks in advance for this

RE: Working with outline levels in Project formulas

Hi Gianluigi

Thank you for your question. One way that might answer this would be first to create your formula in the customised field. Just below the formula setting in the Custom Fields dialogue box there is an additional option to control how the calculation should behave on summary rows.

You might want to experiment between roll up (which brings the values up from the lower level) or use Formula which applies the formula directly to the higher level summary task.

Let me know if that produces the results you are looking for.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Project 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Project 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
