Excel line graphs

Hi

I am currently working on a piece of analysis based around plotting several weeks of sales on a line graph.

I was wondering if there is a setting or quick way to give the last point on the line a marker (i.e. a large "X") but none of the other points.

The reasoning behind this is that there are many lines on the graph, all at different stages of the x axis, so I wish to plot the latest point with a marker and then have a "tail" going back four or five points to show the trend.

I know how to do this for each individual line, however that is quite time consuming and also will not dynamically change as the data behind the graph evolves.

Any advise welcome

Thanks

RE: Excel line graphs

I have just tried plotting the last points as a scatter graph over the top which works quite well so I will work with that unless a better solution is found.

Cheers

Hi Luke

Thanks for getting in touch. Apologies for not replying sooner; somehow this has fallen through the cracks.

As you've discovered there isn't a straightforward or simple way to achieve this; you will almost certainly be able to do this through VBA code but would be quite complex.

Jon Peltier at Peltier Tech is the Excel Chart guru and has come up with a way to do it, but charges for the solution:

I'm sorry I couldn't offer a more direct solution.

Kind regards
