Dates and times

If i enter a date EG- 25/12/2050 can excel work out what the day of the week it will be automaticly undernieth it in the next cell?

RE: dates and times

Hi Alex

Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, this is possible and I'll give you two options:

1. You can duplicate the date into another cell, then right-click the cell and choose Format Cells. Choose custom and then in the box type "dddd". This will give you the day of the week in long format. If you use "ddd" you will get a three-letter format (e.g. Mon instead of Monday).

2. Use the TEXT function to convert it. If your date is in A1 you can try

=TEXT(A1, "dddd")

for similar formatting as above.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Did you know you can view two Excel 2010 workbooks side by side? Very useful when comparing data without constantly having to go back and forth!

1) Open both Excel workbooks
2) Select Window then select Compare Side by Side with (Spreadsheet 2)
3) When you have finished, select Window again and click Close Side by Side
