Custom shape fill problem in Visio

Good morning,

I have created a custom shape in Visio, using the Combine command, and I want to fill it in with a lined pattern. I've selected my shape, gone into Shape - Fill - Fill Options - and chosen my pattern, but nothing happens when I close this dialog - and the shape isn't filled.

Do you know where I might have gone wrong?

Many thanks,
Julia

RE: Custom shape fill problem in Visio

Hi Julia,

Thank you for your question and sorry for the delay in responding.

Are you trying to use a pattern in the fill colour box?
What shapes did you use to create the new combined shape as I am aware that certain shapes from certain stencils, when combined together, the fill colour cannot be applied.

Regards

Simon

RE: Custom shape fill problem in Visio

Hi Julia,

I am currently going though the active questions on our support forum and as I didn't hear back from my last post, I was wondering whether you have since resolved this problem.

If two shapes are combined using Shape Operations, the line fill will apply to everything apart from the intersection shape. I chose Pattern 2 and a green colour.

If it hasn't for any reason, can you please email me within the next 5 days otherwise the question will be automatically marked as resolved.

Thank you for your assistance.

Regards

Simon

Visio tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Visio 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Visio 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
