Number formatting

Hi Anthony

I'm having problems with entering a number in a spreadsheet for the team's annual leave - I have to input .5 and I have formatted it under 'numbers' - 'general' which it then shows as 0.5 which is fine - but many of the cells where I've entered it it changes back to 1 and when I've checked the cell format it still shows 'general' so not sure what to do.
thanks
Jenny Corsale

RE: Number formatting

Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your question.

It sounds like the numbers are rounding up as the number after the decimal point is more than 5.

Is it possible to please send a copy of the spreadsheet to sk@stl-training.co.uk and I can have a look today.

Regards

Simon

RE: Number formatting

Hi Jenny,

I am just following up the reply to the post I sent you and was wondering whether it has been sorted yet?

Have you tried creating a custom format and then applying that to the cells? #,##0.0

Regards

Simon

Excel tip:

Adding date and time

Here are two quick ways to add the date and time to your spreadsheet:

1) Type =NOW(), which displays both date and time in the same cell
or
2) Hold Ctrl and type the colon (:) into one cell for the date and the semi-colon(;)into another for the time.

Note that =NOW() updates to the current date/time whenever the spreadsheet recalculates.
